Program Overview

L&E is a three-week accelerated business development program, seamlessly blending virtual and in-person sessions geared towards ensuring your startup is equipped with tailored mentorship and experience – enabling you to make that next step with confidence.

From mentor insights to sales mastery, pitching skills to physical networking, we’ve got you covered.

This program is free of charge to eligible participants, which is fully funded by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario).

Week 1

Virtual
3rd-7th June

The first week of the Land and Expand program is an intensive virtual experience that gives international entrepreneurs the tools and knowledge they need to successfully establish and operate a business in the North American market.

Each day features sessions where successful founders and investors offer practical insights.

Week 2

In Week 2 we focus on honing the sales and pitching skills of international entrepreneurs to give them the tools they need to successfully engage with customers and investors in a new market.

This week empowers participants to effectively communicate their business ideas to investors, close deals with customers, and establish a strong market presence.

Week 3

In-Person
17th-20th June

In Week 3, we emphasize practical business operations and scaling. Participants network with successful CEOs during special lunches. Ecosystem tours provide insights into Canada’s top tech hub.

The week covers public funding, grants, and building strategic partnerships, concluding with a social event for networking and discussions on next steps.

Land & Expand is a comprehensive three-week program that gives international and immigrant entrepreneurs in Canada the tools, mentorship, and networking opportunities they need to establish & thrive in the Canadian market.

The program is suitable for:

  • Early-stage startups looking to establish and expand within Canada & North America.
  • Founders with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and demonstrated market traction.
  • Founders who have in-place funding will have a significant advantage.

Immigration Status

  • International founders can participate in the program with a Visitor Visa.
  • If already in Canada, you should be a first-generation immigrant, regardless of immigration status (work permit, permanent resident, or naturalized citizen).
  • Regulatory Support: Understanding Canadian laws, IP rights, and tax obligations. 
  • Market Entry: Mastering the North American market with targeted pitch crafting and sales sessions. 
  • Fundraising Support: VC-led fundraising coaching and insights into government grants.

The program includes two weeks of virtual sessions followed by a week of in-person activities. These sessions focus on foundational aspects like incorporation, OKR setting, sales coaching, market strategies, IP rights, and more. The in-person week includes ecosystem introductions, fundraising coaching, and networking events. 

  • Remote Weeks: An average of 1.5 hours of programming scheduled daily. 
  • In-Person Week: Full day schedules throughout the week, covering extensive networking and learning sessions. 

Applications can be submitted through the “Apply Now” buttons on this website. There are specific deadlines for each cohort, and the selection process includes interviews and company onboarding.

The program collaborates with partners like Ribbon for incorporation support. This includes assistance with Canadian incorporation, compliance, and other necessary legal requirements.
